GST Council postpones e-invoicing, QR code and e-wallet scheme in India

On March 14, 2020, the GST Council decided to postpone e-invoicing, QR code and the e-wallet scheme. The decision of the deferment of e-invoice and QR code includes that a certain class of registered persons (insurance company, banking company, financial institution, non-banking financial institution, GTA, passenger transportation service etc.) to be exempted from issuing e-invoices or capturing dynamic QR code; and the dates for implementation of e-invoicing and QR Code to be extended to October 1, 2020. 

The decision of the deferment of the e-wallet Scheme includes extension of the time to finalize the e-Wallet scheme up to March 31, 2021; and extension of the present exemptions from IGST and Cess on the imports made under the AA/EPCG/EOU schemes up to March 31, 2021. 

Effective date: October 1, 2020 and March 31, 2021
