Romania B2B RO e-invoicing eFactură update

Type: Legislation

Romania will fully implement eFactură B2B electronic invoices in 2024.

Romania abandoned plans to gradually bring out mandatory B2B e-invoicing to all businesses. Instead, it will strive for a single “Big Bang” in 2024. Recently confirmed by the Ministry of Finance.

This occurs after the first round for fraud-sensitive products in July 2022.

Beginning on July 1, 2022, B2G e-invoicing using the RO eFactură protocol will be required.

Reforms to the EU VAT system for the digital age include a route for uniformed Digital Reporting Requirements (DRR) and Continuous Transaction Controls (CTC) among EU member states. This developed from suggestions made in the 2020 Tax Package for a fairer and more effective EU tax system.

Effective date: 2024
