Egypt VAT e-invoice update

For the purpose of deducting VAT, Egyptian taxpayers will no longer be able to rely on paper VAT invoices. This comes after the mandated e-invoices’ gradual rollout. 

On February 15, 2022, Egypt welcomed the sixth round of businesses into its e-invoicing system. In November 2021, 134 of the biggest companies launched the project. A continuous transactions control regime for pre-clearance, the Egyptian electronic invoice system. Invoices from registered businesses must be submitted to the tax authority’s platform for basic verification and customer notification.  

B2C e-invoicing became required starting in July 2022. ETA predicts that by April 2023, all B2B invoices will be required to use government-approved e-invoicing.
