New Tax Requirements for Online Content Creators

The Egyptian Tax Authority (ETA) has given instructions on complying with new tax registration requirements for creators of online content (i.e. YouTubers, bloggers, etc.). According to the instructions,content producers are expected to declare their relevant revenue from their activities, irrespective of the amount of their annual turnover. The instructions further prescribe that if the threshold of EGP 500,000 is exceeded in the course of 12 months from the starting of business activities, the taxpayer in question must register for the VAT. The instructions were published on the Ministry of Finance’s LinkedIn account on 25 September 2021.
