Type: Legislation
On 5 November 2024, New Zealand announced an extension of its B2G e-invoicing mandate to cover additional government agencies by 1 January 2026, aligning with Peppol standards. This update to Rule 51 of the Government Procurement Rules requires agencies, including ACC, Health NZ, and NZ Police, to send and receive structured e-invoices and settle 95% of domestic trade e-invoices within five business days by 2026. The mandate’s phased implementation begins in January 2025, with accelerated payments of 90% of invoices within 10 business days. This policy aims to improve cash flow, particularly for SMEs, by fostering digital invoicing and faster payments.
Effective date: 1 January 2026
