Turkish Revenue Authority mandates QR codes on e-fatura invoices

QR Codes must be included in e-Fatura invoices beginning September 1, 2023. Quick Response Codes (QR Codes) will be required on the following tax documents by the Turkish Revenue Authority: 

  • E-Fatura invoices for B2B and B2G transactions (Turkish e-invoices). 
  • E-Arşiv for all B2C transactions and any B2B transactions where the customer does not meet the e-invoice registration threshold. 
  • E-Delivery Notes which report physical movements. 

The QR Code requirement will come into effect from 1 September 2023. QR Codes are two-dimensional barcodes that were invented in 1994. Developed to help identify parts for the automotive industry, they are now becoming popular requirements on invoices, receipts, and customs documentation. They include a light scanner-readable URL link that returns to the original invoice.
