Updates for e-invoice in Lithuania

Type: Legislation

Some new details on e-invoicing in Lithuania have been provided. Based on the EU standard for invoicing, e-invoicing will be used (EN 16931). More specifically, the Ministry for the Economy has begun developing a plan for the implementation of the initiative.

In addition to an accounting system service for invoices that includes the submission of sales invoices and exchange with clients, this will also feature a free service to support an API-based submission from EPRs. By September 2023, authorities intend to implement the electronic invoicing system.

Using the PEPPOL standard, Lithuania has already operated a centralized B2G invoicing service since July 2017.

Effective date: September 2023
