Lithuania to cut e-book VAT

Type: Draft Legislation

The parliament of the Baltic state of Lithuania is debating a motion to lower the VAT on publications and books in electronic form to 9%. This is in line with the majority of other EU nations, who have matched the rates for printed and electronic publications.

Only journals with less than 20% of their content made up of advertising will qualify for the rate reduction.

The new VAT rates can go into effect on January 1, 2023.

Effective date: 1 January 2023
