Burundi electronic invoicing – e-Tax

Mandatory electronic invoice live reporting – digitalised businesses:

Beginning in January 2022, the Republic of Burundi made certain taxpayers’ use of electronic invoicing mandatory. This included both local and remote suppliers of digital businesses.

This is done to the Burundian Receipt Office (OBR). Payments and sales transactions must be reported in real-time. The system is still undergoing adaptation, though, as a result of the challenges faced by businesses in implementing it.

Effective date: January 2022
