Belgium B2B e-Invoicing Guidance Issued

Type: Legislation

The Belgian Federal Public Service Finance has released guidance for the mandatory B2B e-invoicing starting 1 January 2026. The mandate requires structured electronic invoices for almost all transactions between Belgian VAT-registered companies, excluding B2C transactions. The e-invoices must follow the EN 16931 format, specifically the Peppol-BIS format, and PDFs will not be accepted post-December 2025. From January 2025, investment deductions for digital investments will increase to 20%, and small businesses can apply a 120% fee deduction for billing programs. Belgium is awaiting European Commission approval for mandatory e-invoicing, aligning with the EU VAT in the Digital Age plans for a standardized eInvoicing system by 2030.
